When is the right time to start seeds?

Nothing says Spring like fresh herbs, but in order to maximize your harvest preparation is key! By starting seeds indoors towards the end of winter, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running and can start enjoying your harvest weeks earlier.

So when is the right time to start seeds?

The answer will ultimately depend on whether you want to move your garden outdoors or keep it inside.

Starting Seeds To Grow Indoors

If you are growing indoors, then you have the flexibility to start your seeds at almost any time of year!  That said, it makes sense to start in the Fall – that way when the supply of fresh herbs dries up at your local market you’ll still have plenty. Planting indoors will require some additional materials like an indoor grow light to help the plants grow.

Starting Seeds to Transfer Outdoors

If however, you are planning to transfer your garden outdoors, then we recommend starting roughly 4-8 weeks prior to the last Spring frost. In many parts of the country, that’s around about now!

Frost-free days are the perfect gardening opportunity for growing. During the growing season, plants have time to mature and blossom.

If your location isn’t listed, you can find it by entering your zip code or your City, State here.
