Typically made with mint, the mojito is a timeless classic in the cocktail world. This refreshing version swaps out mint for purple basil, which not only brings a unique flavor but also adds a stunning splash of color. Whether you're hosting a poolside BBQ or just relaxing at sunset, this Purple Basil Mojito is sure to keep you cool and refreshed!
Ingredients (Makes 2 Serves)
- 1 lime
- 1 tsp sugar or simple syrup
- 3 oz soda water
- 2 oz light rum
- 6-10 purple basil leaves
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- Muddle the purple basil leaves and sugar in a cocktail shaker (or large mug), along with a splash of the rum. Be gentle to avoid breaking the leaves into tiny pieces, which could end up in your drink.
- Cut the lime in half, and squeeze the juice into the shaker or mug.
- Add the remaining rum and soda water.
- Add half of the ice and shake or stir to combine.
- Place the juiced lime halves at the bottom of your glass.
- Pour the mixture into your glass, topping with more ice as needed.
We garnished ours with micro basil and marigold leaves, but feel free to use an extra purple basil leaf for a beautiful touch. Enjoy!
